Texas Youth Shooting Sports

To expose youth and adults to the benefits of athleticism and child development through participation in Olympic style and Non-Profit shooting sports programs.

Our Story

Its all about

youth development.

During the summer of 2023 the building, which was intended to be demolished, became available and remodeling began. Progress has been slow since the work is completed mostly by volunteers and tax-deductible donations. During August of 2023 donations began to arrive and the association was able to purchase Sius targeting systems, upgrade the rest rooms, kitchen, sanctuary (now used as the range), and assembly area. It is also now usable all year with upgraded air conditioning and heating for the hot summers and cold winters. The building is totally dedicated towards Olympic style indoor air rifle and pistol as well as training of all level shooters and coaches. Small-bore rifle and pistol shooters can train on the SCATT systems. The Burnet County 4-H Youth Rifle team is now the home club and others, such as Llano County 4-H also use the facility.   Plans for future improvements include multiple SCATT computerized training systems, multiple training aids and stations, and classroom area for coach and athlete training. Plans are now in place to have the facility 100% operational by the summer of 2024.  Summer camps and advanced coaching training are also in the making.

If you are a member of a non-profit organization the facility is intended for you. However, you must be dedicated 100% to competing and participating in the nonprofit organization to use the facility and apply for membership.  How much does it cost?  The original intent is to allow members access to the facility for no cost. All operational cost is currently covered by generous sponsors, both individuals and businesses.  All members are asked to seek a sponsor in return for regular membership dues.

About Us

Do you belong to a non-profit youth precision rifle/air rifle team?  Do you need practice and coaching?  Would you like to attend seminars or expand your coaching knowledge? The Texas Youth Shooting Sports organization has a place to meet your needs. Recently a building, a former church, was obtained through a very generous donor for that very purpose.  The Texas Youth Shooting Sports organization was created to meet the needs of young athletes from nonprofit organizations such as 4-H Shooting Sports, JROTC, The American Legion Program, Boy Scouts, Paralympics, ROTC, and Wounded Warriors.

Our Sponsors

The Texas Youth Shooting Sports (TXYSS) is a non profit organization. There are no salaried employees, only volunteers that unselfishly give of themselves to the  youth and adult organizations who use the facility. Sponsorships replace membership fees and offer tax advantages and advertising at the facility and web page. Generous sponsors help pay for all operational cost of the facility and organization.

Thanks to our many sponsors. If you would like to contribute contact Guy Taylor at "olympicrifle@icloud.com" for more information.
